I'm not here to bash any books but looking for a response. I currently use Pinnacle and WWTS and never had a problem. I signed up to give RIO a shot today. I spoke with a rep on the phone and went over the sign up process. She told me of a new way PrePaid ATM. Also told me there's a 10% bonus for new accounts. I signed up and sent $470 PrePaid ATM. An hour or so later I called RIO to ask about my 10% cash bonus. I was informed "sorry there's no bonus with PrePaid sign-ups, you should've sent funds another way". I was upset because after checking the website under "promotions" there's no mention of not giving a 10% bonus with PrePaid sign-ups. The clerk verified this and said "I agree with you- it doesn't say anything- but it's a company rule". I then asked to speak with a manager- "please hold"- the GM is currently out to lunch". More like RIO is out to lunch on this one. Don't give me the BS the GM is out to lunch. She said to email keith@skybook.com. I emailed a nice letter and never heard back- not even a response. The money isn't the main point, it's only $47 stinking dollars which I'd probably lose on a 3 teamer tonight (SD, Mets, Reds) but just the point. This seems absurd and makes RIO look like liars and manipulators of the system. Grow up RIO- or at least respond to your customers.

The definition of a bonus is "something given or paid in addition to what is usual or expected."

We at Rio/Skybook/IIS/C&B are very generous with our bonuses and additional offerings. BUT a bonus is not a right it is a privilege given in certain instances.

I apologize that you did not get what you expected as far as a bonus is concerned, but in this instance (PrePaidATM) there is nothing additional that we give.

If you notice on our internet banking page we do not detail our bonus for each deposit method- this was done so that players wanting a bonus would contact us personally (phone or electronically) so that our bonus rules can be properly explained.

Once again, I apologize that you thought that you deserved a bonus in this instance. When money is involved we recommend to not make any assumptions. We are one of the most generous companies in the industry, but our rules are strict, yet fair.

I know it is hard to get good help, but...

If she mentioned (promoted) the PrePaidATM and THEN mentioned the 10% on new accounts....

Anyone would draw the connection between the two.

At the very least employees should be cautioned to make sure and fully explain the bonus not being given when they propose ATM to the new client.

In this case it would seem the book would just give the guy the bonus this time. If there is ANY possiblity the conversation went like he said it did, then the information the player was given was incorrect/incomplete.

We all know where the vast majority of these deposits and bonus dollars end up anyway..

DON'T WE?

I guess from a business standpoint.. many more people will read the contest threads and see a positive side to this book.
But, seems to me, this thread and this explaination is not real good for business.

I play at Pinnacle and rio. Bottom line is that when you consider the free half points at Rio, and the reduced juice at Pinnacle that the savings from those eclipse any bonuses by so much that it is almost comical. I wouldn't even ask those books for a bonus because I am so thankful for all the money that I am earning/saving over the course of a year from those outs. Actually, I would be embarrassed to even publicly complain to either one of those outs about bonuses. Shops like Hollywood, and other reduced juice shops, I would say the same thing. Anyone who complains about bonuses at reduced juice shops or free half shops to me is an obvious "square" who has no idea how much one saves over the course of a year with free halfs and reduced Juice. Just last year alone, the free half saved/made me almost 20k. The reduced juice at Pinnacle saved me almost 30k in reduced commissions. People need to look at the big picture, and then make their conclusions. Bottom line, reduced juice and free halfs make ANY bonus pale in comparison.

Points well taken Week,

But... Please note.. This guy is making his first post. Probably does not know everything you know.
I am simply commenting about the way this is described with customer service. Maybe even if they normally don't give a bonus for this transaction... if customer service explains it wrong.. then maybe they should honor it this one time.

Like he said... it is only $47.

This is a No-Brainer if ever I saw one:

1. Pay the man his $47 bonus, since it doesn't state anywhere on your site that PrePaid ATM deposits do not qualify for one. You offer up umpteen thousand dollars in prizes to contest whores - give a paying customer his $47 bonus.

2. Update your website to indicate that PrePaid ATM deposits do not qualify for a bonus.

-------------

I mean, Rio still has this offer posted on their Promotions page (which they have long since stopped honouring):

"Refer-a-Friend Program
Rio International offers you the best referral program in the industry. Rio gives you a 15% Matchplay Bonus!"

We appreciate all of our assistance in this, but our GM is handling this matter. I am sure that he will fully investigate this matter and act accordingly. I will convey your opinions to him.

Thanks for the support- it's nice to have a forum of people that can discuss thing- I really appreciate all the responses.

AS I SAID ABOVE- I'm not here to bash any books, I've heard all positive things about RIO- I simply asked for a response. I was told the GM was "out to lunch". I find it hard to believe that there is 1 person at a company that size that can make a call on a $47 bonus- if I wanted to put $5,000 on a baseball game tonight I bet there would be a GM available to speak to me. Then amazingly- as soon as I posted this message above on theRX I get an email from the "GM"- how about that. Turns out he wasn't out to lunch, "Unfortunately my staff was incorrect, as I was not out to lunch but I had left for the day. Since you seem rather let down that I had not responded to you, I decided to get to a computer and send you a message- I generally have a policy of not bending rules for people that take their complaints to the forums, moreover NEVER bend rules when people mistreat my employees". Pardon me but- how the hell did I mistreat your employee??? By asking for a $47 bonus (Tell me where on the website it states that there is NO 10% bonus for PrePaid ATM sign-ups. I didn't think you could find it because it's not there. FUNNY BUT- as soon as you launch the RIO website and select banking the first thing you see is "Our NEW Transfer System ATM Pre-Paid ***NEW*** then under Deposit Methods -PrePaid ATM is the first choice you see. Explain to me where it states that there is no bonus for PRePaid- you're pushing people to use PrePaid and then refuse to honor your bonus policy- doesn't sound like a good business move to me. Regardless, even if you stated a waiver that if you use PrePaid you're not entitled to a 10% bonus I would have NO PROBLEM. I don't even need the stupid $47 bonus- but just think it's a fair policy to let potential customer's know the policies before sending money. I'm sure you run a great book- but just don't play these minor league games with customers. I have a funny feeling I should have stayed with the big league clubs aka- Pinnacle, WWTS, WSEX, BoDOg, etc. Never had these dumb problems with them- figured I'd give RIO a shot and I'm sorry I did. But DON't- accuse me of mistreating any of your employees- PLEASE- expecially when you're "out to lunch" or "gone for the day" or whatever excuse you want to use.

General, I am sorry, but I find it a little hard to believe that you are allowing argueably one of the top 3 books here to be bashed by a ghost. I am sure the Shrink would agree with my assessment. Rio has done more for these forums that virtually everyone here. The guys over there always treat me right and like I said earlier, they give away more with the free halfs and give aways than anyone here. If people come in here and bash one of my top books--i.e. Pinnacle or Rio or Hollywood, I am going to step in. Unless these books have done something astronomically wrong, I would think that you would step in and get their backs too. Just my opinion. Perhaps I am loyal to a fault, but when people bash my boys that do me right like Holly, Rio, Pinny, etc. I am going to speak up. You should too.

Gamblinx it sounds to me like the clerk you spoke to feels you were out of line, maybe so maybe not. Almost all customer-employee conversations are on tape. Given time I am sure Rio management will listen to your conversation to find out exactly what was said during your phone call. Please allow Rio some time to get to the bottom of the situation, and see who is telling the truth here. Generally clerks who know they are being taped will not claim a customer mistreated them unless it was true. The tape should tell.

Thanks, wil.

Response to msg above-

I said 3 times I"M NOT BASHING RIO- Just because you've never had a problem that means no one else can express a real world concern? Who the hell are you- The NY Times (only publish the good things)? I think it's fair to praise and call out things that are the books fault. Isn't that the purpose of a fair forum. I'll be the first to praise RIO when they add the disclaimer that there are no bonuses if you sign up with PrePaid ATM. The best books I've used are Pinnacle, WWTS, WSEX, Olympic- NEVER EVER a problem and the customer is always right- or at least treated with respect.

Just received a voice mail from Keith at Skybook. I'm not home but I just checked my home voice mail- as I said- I'm not here accusing anyone of anything- just pointing out what I think is a deceiving policy by RIO- they need to be upfront about their bonus system- why the hidden rules? I'll let you know how this is resolved. Just find it hard to believe that you need to post a complaint in public to get a response

Gamblix,

It's very INTERESTING that you signed up today and your first day of posting is to BASH one of our most generous sports books in this forum...

At the very least, you could have given RIO a day, instead of an hour or so to respond back to you...

P.S.

Receiving a BONUS is not your God Given right, and you should be aware that many other excellent sports books have certain requirements attached to bonuses, period!
